Mastodon

Mastodon is an open social media system built on top of an internet standard called ActivityPub. The general user experience is somewhere between Twitter and Tumblr, but with a decentralized, community-operated structure.

Mastodon Servers

Similar to how you use an email provider like Gmail, the way people use Mastodon is through a Server (or "Instance") which acts as your home base. From your home server, you can post, repost, like, favorite, message, follow, block, report, and do anything else you'd normally do on a social media network.

As servers "federate," their users can follow each other and see each others posts, creating what is commonly called the "Fediverse," though some folks (such as myself) prefer the term "Open Social Web."

Our Server

Our home Mastodon server can be found at https://astral.camp. Once your account is set up, you can log in online or with any Mastodon mobile app and get to posting!

Signups for our Mastodon server are currently limited to members of our Discord. This restriction will be changing in the near future.
