== How Do I Apply? ==
All Campers who meet the following prerequisites are welcome to apply to join the Firewatch:

* Be a member of the community for at least 100 Continuous Days
* No moderation strikes for the last 50 Days
* 18 years of age or older
* Understanding that not everyone who applies will be added to the Firewatch

If you meet these requirements, submit your application by using the following command: <code>/firewatch join</code>

Your submission will then be reviewed by staff. In the case your request is denied, you will be notified privately by Staff explaining why. If denied, you may apply again after three months if you are still interested.

Once you are approved to join the Firewatch, you will receive the "Firewatch" role. This includes a unique color for your name along with a separate category in the active user list. Additionally, Firewatch members have access to a private channel to interface with Camp Counselors.

As a Firewatch member, you are expected to remain an upstanding member of the community. What follows briefly outlines areas of focus for Firewatch members.

As services have continued to grow and skills in the Camp Game expand, it's easy for newcomers to get overwhelmed in the expanding depths of the Astral Realm. In addition to directing new Campers to spaces like <code>#orientation-room</code>, Firewatch also sets an example for guiding Campers through the ins and outs of the Discord server and the variety of services available throughout the Realm.

== How Did Vibe Check Start? ==
The first documented Vibe Check was held by Endeavorance on the 20th of July, 2022 at 9:11 PM EST.

Endevorance would continue to check in with the server to get a general sense of the vibes in the community until the idea came about to automate the Vibe Check on a daily basis.

The first automated Vibe Check was initiated by Dyno (AKA "Totem") on the 10th of August, 2022 at 7:30 PM. Totem would continue the service until Campfire became the all-encompassing Campground bot, issuing its initial test Vibe Check on the 22nd of September, 2022 at 3:30 PM. Campfire has continued the Vibe Checks to this day.

Life is hard enough sometimes, and gaming is an escape. Do not grief other players, including but not limited to:

Do not build within the bedrock border around world spawn. Directly outside of world spawn is a community collaboration zone. While you may build near spawn, it is advised that you move further out to find a permanent base location.

=== 5. Fate is Sealed ===
Got lost? Died from a fall? Fell into lava? THAT'S MINECRAFT BAYBEEE. Do not ask staff to be teleported out of a tough situation or to be given items that you lost from typical gameplay. This is a survival mode server and that is part of the game!

However, an exception is made for glitches and griefing. Staff can help get you some gear and supplies back if you lose it from a server issue or another player's actions.

=== 6. Modding Policy ===
While client side mods are allowed for minimaps and accessibility, those that grant an unfair advantage such as x-ray and mods that allow you to fully automate tasks such as mining. Meaning that you can't have a bot play the game for you.

Please note that while using a minimap is allowed, we encourage the use of Xaero's Minimap Fair-Play. As it disables features like cave maps and entity radar.

In-lore wars and conflicts ARE allowed however, ALL parties must agree upon the rules of engagement and inform the mods.

Sometimes we may mess up someone else's hard work on accident, if this happens you must inform the owner and help clean up if asked.

Avoiding accountability will be considered griefing.

=== Rule Enforcement ===
While it is on everyone to keep an eye out for rule breakages and report them, Camp Counselors will take the following steps when rule breakages occur:

* First offense: Warning
* Second offense: 1 week ban from the Minecraft server
* Third offense: Permanent ban from the Minecraft server and all of the Astral Campgrounds

To be clear: The Minecraft servers are ''a part of'' the Astral Campgrounds. Breaking rules in Minecraft is no different than breaking rules anywhere else. This is a collaborative community, and so intentional repeated rule breakages are taken seriously. Thank you for understanding!

== Why Use a Third Party Launcher? ==
While the default launcher works perfectly fine, getting mods running on it can be a bit tricky. This is mainly because of how the launcher works. Third party launchers like Prism, Modrinth, and yes, even Cursefroge separate the different "profile" from another one. The default launcher doesn't do this, which creates issues when you want to play multiple modded versions of the game.

== Which Launcher? ==
There are two main launchers to choose from, Prism Launcher and Modrinth. Both of these can do the same thing, it just depends on which one you want to use.

== Prism Launcher ==
Before I get started, I would urge you to go and read the wiki for this launcher, as it has everything that I will be providing here.

# Go to the prism launcher website and click download, for whichever operating system you're using.
# Install Java, I would suggest following this guide on the Wiki.
# After you have installed Java, run the installer for Prism Launcher or open it if you have already done this.
# Once you select your language, it should auto detect your installed Java version(s).
# Once you are finished with the setup, click the account button on the top right of the application and click "manage accounts" then click "add microsoft" and go through that set up.

Now that you have Prism Launcher and your account set up, it's time to create an Instance.

# Click "Add Instance"
# If you want to grab an already created modpack published on Modrinth or CurseForge, select those two on the side, and find which pack you want to install. I would suggest "Fabulously Optimized" if you're looking for a modpack for optimizing the game.
# If you wish to create an instance with whichever mods you want, then select the game version of your choice. At the time of writing the current version is 1.21.8. Once that's selected, on the lower right side of the menu, click on Fabric, this is a mod loader. Then click the version with the star next to it. Then click "ok"
# Run the newly created instance
# If you want to add mods into the instance, right click it and click "edit" then click "Mods"
# click "Download Mods" to bring up a menu that shows a list of mods you can install.

Some mods require a dependency. the main mod that fabric requires is called Fabric API. One of the biggest performance mods is called Sodium, and the mod that adds support for shaders is called Iris.

== Modrinth ==
Modrinth is a launcher similar to CurseForge. You can download mod and modpacks from Modrinth. This launcher is much more simple then Prism, but can lack in the easy installation of modpacks from CurseForge.

# click the download button and install it to your system
# on the top right of the application where it says "playing as" click the "not signed in" button and near that should be a button to click to log in
# On the left side of the screen, there should be some buttons. If you want to download a modpack from Modrinth click on the "discover content" button. If you want to create your own instance, click the "create new instance" button.
# If you downloaded a pre made modpack, it should appear on the left sidebar or in the library. If you decided to create your own instance it will be in the same area. if you want to add mods to it click on the "install content button"

After setting up the modpack of your choice or creating your own, you could be ready to click play

Note that this launcher does have ads, but from my understanding its to support mod developers.

= Why shouldn't you use CurseForge? =
The short answer is that it is bloated as it serves as a modding platform for other games. which makes it a bit heavier to run. when running an instance it will open the regular Minecraft launcher which adds another step into the process of actually just running the game. For a more technical reason, it doesn't allow you to set individual java arguments, which can make playing multiple modpacks at a time a bit of a pain as you should be changing how many gigabytes of ram a modpack should be using.

Content warnings outside of those stated in this content policy are up to the discretion of the poster.

The Astral.Camp staff encourage the use of content warnings for difficult topics such as touchy political statements or difficult personal stories. While these topics may be uncomfortable for others, they are also a deeply human, shared experience. We feel that the trust should be placed in the poster to determine when a content warning is necessary on these topics.

Here is a list of common content warnings encouraged by Astral.Camp staff:

There are two levels of moderators for the Astral Campgrounds:

* Firewatch: These folks are community volunteer moderators who help act as guides and community mediators. They also help with smaller, obvious issues that need immediate action.
* Camp Councilor: Staff members of the Astral Campgrounds who work with the Firewatch to keep things running smoothly and give the final say on more complex cases

Put simply, Firewatch are mods, Councilors are admins.

== Reports ==
When a post is reported, if it clearly violates one of our content policies, we will remove the post and, if the author was a member of our server, provide a formal warning to the member. Continued warnings will result in suspension or a ban.

In cases of hate speech, bigotry, CSAM, or direct harassment, users will be immediately and permanently banned.

If the reported post does not clearly violate a policy, we'll do one of two things:

== 1. Collaborate and Uplift ==
Everyone is coming from a different background, sense of humor, interpretation of wording and collection of interests. We are all highly complex and nuanced individuals as humans, and we are at our best when we come together to enjoy the complexities of each other, learning along the way.

Approach conversation with empathy, positive curiosity and collaboration in mind. In simple terms, always opt for "yes, and" rather than "no, but." Did someone say they haven't seen your favorite TV show? Perhaps they said they aren't personally interested in a topic you absolutely adore? Instead of lashing out, reapproach with why you find it great. At best they are convinced and change, and at "worst" they can appreciate why you love it.

== 2. Foster Safety ==
The world is messy, confusing and often dangerous for the folks who need the most support. It is on all of us to take an active role in fostering a supportive, encouraging and safe environment for people to explore themselves within. When people feel safe, they have a chance to grow and change in a healthy way, and become much more open to new ideas, passions and major life steps. One of the most powerful tools we have as humans is to help other humans grow. The more we do that, the more we all benefit.

Now explicitly: queer folks, trans folks, BIPOC and women especially deserve support in a world that has hosted hundreds if not thousands of years of backlash and oppression. Men of course also deserve support and respect, as do all humans with the exception of those who wish to remove the rights of others. Inclusivity requires discretion and vigilance, and it is on us to actively step up and step in.

== 3. Be Clear and Authentic ==
Especially in text chat, nuanced sentiment can be lost in the fold. What you may find humorous may be interpreted as insulting to others. The easiest way to avoid this is to be direct, clear and authentic; stretching lighthearted jokes clearly be humorous and avoiding jabs, insults and slurs even when in jest.

It may be that a term you're used to using is a term someone else finds distressing. While you should not need to be overly cautious or feel like walking on eggshells, it should not be a heavy lift to construct your language in a way that others can understand and appreciate your sentiments. If someone pushes back on a term, reapproach with empathy and good faith.

== 4. Cynicism is Cancerous ==
Cynicism and nonstop sarcasm is an attractive defense mechanism, especially given the absurdity of the world we live in. However, it can easily spiral to a dark place and can often leave people confused, offput or upset. Rarely does cynicism add to a conversation, especially when injected into a discussion between other folks who may not feel the same way. It is poisonous to collaborative and uplifting conversation, and often serves no purpose besides to derail an engaging conversation.

It is perfectly understandable and acceptable to be cynical of things, sarcastic about things and generally skeptical, but it is never okay to drag people down. Jumping in to provide a counter point where you feel it may add to the conversation is encouraged, but again always do so in good faith. Otherwise, let people enjoy things.
